Good News: Indians Are Eligible for the Russian E-Visa
Indian citizens have two options for visiting Russia: the electronic visa (e-visa) and the traditional tourist/business visa. The e-visa is the fastest and cheapest option for short trips.
Russian E-Visa for Indians
- Duration: Up to 16 days
- Entry type: Single entry
- Application: 100% online at evisa.kdmid.ru
- Processing: 4 calendar days
- Cost: Government fee only (approximately $40)
- No invitation required
Traditional Tourist Visa for Indians
For trips longer than 16 days or if you need multiple entries, you'll need a traditional tourist visa:
- Duration: Up to 30 days
- Entry type: Single or double entry
- Invitation required: Yes โ from a licensed Russian tour operator
- Processing: 5โ10 business days at the consulate
Important Note for Indian Citizens
Indian citizens are classified as a "restricted country" for visa invitation purposes. This means the invitation costs more (from $70 instead of $18) and requires additional verification by the Russian tour operator. This is due to stricter immigration controls, not a reflection of approval chances โ the vast majority of Indian applications are approved.
